Classification of high-temperature conveyor belts and low-temperature conveyor belts

Conveyor Belts by Temperature Range
In industrial applications, conveyor belts are categorized into high-temperature and low-temperature belts based on their operational thermal limits. Below are detailed descriptions:

I. High-Temperature Conveyor Belts

Designed for extreme heat environments, these belts retain performance without degradation. Common types include:

1. Heat-Resistant Conveyor Belts (PVC/PU/Silicone)

  • Materials: PVC, PU, or silicone for exceptional thermal stability.
  • Temperature Range: Typically -10°C to +80°C; specialized versions exceed +150°C.
  • Applications: Steel mills, foundries, cement plants.

2. Felt High-Temperature Belts

  • Structure: Wool surface for scratch-free handling + wear-resistant base layer.
  • Features: Oil resistance, breathability, customizable tensile strength.
  • Temperature Resistance: Up to 480°C.
  • Applications: Glass transport, automotive, precision ceramics, electronics.

3. Teflon®/PTFE High-Temperature Belts

  • Temperature Range: -70°C to 260°C.
  • Performance:
    • Maintains 100% strength and weight after 200 days at 250°C.
    • Only 0.6% weight loss after 120 hours at 350°C.
  • Features: Weather resistance, anti-aging.

4. Silicone High-Temperature Belts

  • Temperature Resistance: Up to 220°C.
  • Features: Non-stick surface for sticky materials (e.g., sugar).
  • Applications: Logistics hubs, postal centers, cold chain warehouses.

II. Low-Temperature Conveyor Belts

Engineered for cold environments, these belts maintain flexibility and durability. Common types:

1. Cold-Resistant Conveyor Belts

  • Materials: Cotton, nylon, or polyester fabric with BR (butadiene rubber) + natural rubber coating.
  • Temperature Range: Operates at -40°C.
  • Features: High elasticity, impact resistance, wear resistance.
  • Applications: Northern mines, high-altitude coal transport.

2. Food-Grade Low-Temperature Belts

  • Compliance: FDA, USDA, EU food safety certifications.
  • Temperature Range: -45°C to +55°C.
  • Applications: Frozen food processing, meat/seafood freezing, pharmaceuticals.
  • Example: Volta’s -45°C belts with reinforced silicone/PU coatings.
