Guides' Material, Function and Processing Methods

1. material of the front guide strip of a light conveyor belt

As an important part of the conveyor belt, the material selection of the front guide strip of a light conveyor belt is directly related to the working performance and service life of the conveyor belt. Generally speaking, the material of the front guide strip must meet the characteristics of wear resistance, corrosion resistance, and tensile resistance to adapt to complex material transportation environments and requirements.

Rubber material: Rubber, especially natural rubber and synthetic rubber, is widely used in the production of the front guide strip of a light conveyor belt due to its good elasticity and wear resistance. The rubber guide strip can fit tightly with the conveyor belt, effectively preventing material leakage, while absorbing material impact and reducing the wear of the conveyor belt.
Plastic material: Plastic materials such as polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and polyurethane (PU) also have a place in the production of the front guide strip of a light conveyor belt due to their light weight, corrosion resistance, and easy processing and molding. These plastic guide strips have a smooth surface and a low friction coefficient, which can reduce the resistance and adhesion of materials during transportation.
Metal material: In some special occasions, such as high temperature, high humidity, corrosive environment or when heavy loads need to be borne, metal front guide strips become the first choice. Metal materials such as stainless steel and aluminum alloy have excellent mechanical properties and corrosion resistance, and can maintain the stability and working performance of the guide bar for a long time.

2. The role of the front guide bar of the light conveyor belt

The front guide bar of the light conveyor belt plays multiple roles in the conveyor belt system, which is of great significance to ensure the stable and efficient operation of the conveyor belt.

Guiding function: The primary function of the front guide bar is to guide the material to flow along the predetermined path to prevent the material from running off or overflowing. By reasonably designing the shape and installation position of the guide bar, precise control of the material can be achieved to ensure that the material is accurately transported to the destination according to the process requirements.
Protective function: During the material transportation process, especially when sharp and hard materials are involved, the front guide bar can effectively protect the conveyor belt from scratches and wear. The guide bar acts as a barrier to reduce the chance of direct contact between the material and the conveyor belt, thereby extending the service life of the conveyor belt.
Optimize material flow: The design of the front guide bar can affect the flow state of the material. Reasonable guide bar shape and layout can make the material form a stable and continuous material flow on the conveyor belt, reduce material accumulation and blockage, and improve the efficiency and uniformity of material transportation.

3. Processing methods of front guide strips of light conveyor belts

The processing methods of front guide strips of light conveyor belts vary depending on the material and application requirements. The following are some common processing methods:

Processing of rubber guide strips: Rubber guide strips are usually made by compression molding. First, the rubber raw materials are mixed and heated in a certain proportion to make them plastic; then the rubber materials are placed in the mold and molded under the action of pressure and temperature; finally, the rubber guide strips are vulcanized to obtain the required elasticity and wear resistance.
Processing of plastic guide strips: Plastic guide strips are mostly made by extrusion molding or injection molding. Extrusion molding is to heat the plastic raw materials to a molten state, and then extrude the molten plastic into a continuous profile through an extruder; injection molding is to inject the molten plastic into a closed mold, and obtain the desired shape of the guide strip after cooling.
Processing of metal guide strips: Metal guide strips are generally made by stamping, bending, welding and other processes. The stamping process is to use a stamping machine to stamp a metal sheet into a guide bar of the desired shape; the bending process is to bend the metal bar into the desired shape; the welding process is used to connect multiple metal parts into an integral guide bar.

In summary, the material, function and processing method of the front guide bar of the light conveyor belt are interrelated and jointly affect the performance and use effect of the conveyor belt system. In practical applications, it is necessary to select the appropriate guide bar material and processing method according to the specific working environment and material characteristics to ensure the stable and efficient operation of the conveyor belt system.
